1. Richard Hamilton， one of the so-called "Jordanaires"， scored 11 points in a 13-0 game-tying run that swung the momentum as the Wizards won Saturday night's home opener 90-76 victory over the undermanned Philadelphia 76ers.週六晚間，Jordan搭配小組之一的 Richard Hamilton在一波13比0的攻勢中獨得11分，不但追平了比數并且逆轉了全隊氣勢；魔法師隊以 90比 76力克費城 76人隊獲得主場首勝。
Jordanaires：「Jordinaires」1950及1960年間闻名的「咻比嘟哇」合音團體，曾經為「貓王」Elvis Presley及其他天王歌星合音。Jordan在 NBA當然是天王球星，他的隊友也天然像是在陪襯他。「Jordanaires」與「Jordinaires」只要一個字母之差，無怪乎隊友被戲稱為「Jordanaires」了。
run：「名詞」連續（的得分）；「小IT」。其他用法：a long run（of a movie）（某電影）連續放映；a run of wet weather連綿不斷的雨天；a good run at play比賽連勝。
swung the momentum：逆轉了全隊氣勢。swung是 swing的過往式及過往分詞，是「使改變方向、使迴轉」的意思。Momentum在物理、力學上是「動量」的意思，引伸的意思為「氣勢」。
2. The Nets made up for 35.5 percent shooting from the field by outscoring Charlotte 31-9 on the fast break and 27-17 on second-chance points.在第二節比賽中，紐澤西網隊投籃命中率只要 35.5百分，可是使用快攻获得 31比9的優勢，同時在「補籃」上也有 27比 17的優勢。
outscoring：（甲隊）得分超過（乙隊）。類似的字還有out-rebound：（甲隊）籃板球多於（乙隊）；out-run：（甲隊）體力勝過（乙隊）。
fast break：快攻。
second-chance points：進攻的一方首次投籃沒進，搶到進攻籃板球获得二度投籃的機會「補籃」得分。

drilled a jumper：drilled是「鑽（洞）」的意思，把球投进籃框就像是球「鑽进」籃框一樣。
drained a 15-foot jumper：drained本是「液體從管道流出往」的意思。球投进籃後從籃網底落下，像就像是球從沒有底的籃子漏出往一樣。

sandwiched：三明治是兩片麵包「夾」漢堡、火腿等……，將……「夾」进（兩個三分球）之間，兩個「夾」字都可以用 sandwich這個字。路邊有背著「夾」在身體的胸前與背後遊街做「活動廣告牌」的人，叫做 sandwich man.

buzzed：「動詞」除了當「嗡嗡作響」的意思之外，也有低飛而過的意思。在航空扮演中，飛機常以低飛（引擎會發出「嗡嗡」聲）作信號或默示歡迎。
lower bowl：許多體育館，中間低而附近有座位，看起來像個碗似的。lower bowl便是指靠近「碗底」的數排座位。
droppings：動物的糞便。狗的糞便叫做 dog droppings，dog IT是粗話，通俗不宜利用。每每會用複數形 droppings而不用單數形 dropping.

dethrone： throne是「王位」，de-有「往除」之意。dethrone便是「民主王位」。打敻國王隊」不便是「民主國王」嗎？

doormats：洋人通俗在進进室內時是不脫鞋的；為了怕把室內弄得太髒，主人會在門前擺一塊「擦鞋墊」doormat以便清除鞋底泥垢，引申的意思便是「被踩在腳底」
的一支隊伍。
原文中在 everybody之後沒有加上 else一字，是錯誤的。"everybody" in the league包括自己自己這一隊，可是自己不能把自己踩在腳底下，所以應該剔除默示自己這一隊。改成 "everybody else"就不包括自己自己這一隊了。
9. While the legs aren't quite what they were during the glory years，make no mistake： Jordan still has the fire.雖然已不復當年勇，可是巨匠要年夜白：Jordan仍旧還是有「火力」的。
"While the legs aren't quite what they were during the glory years."直譯是：雖然他的兩條腿已不似當年他叱吒風雲時代的兩條腿，套句中國的俗語來說，便是「好漢不復當年勇」。
make no mistake：確確實實；一點兒也不錯；強調語氣的用法。

vintage：陈腐的，陳舊的。
moves：（各種籃球上如運球過人、投籃、搶籃板球、「蓋火鍋」、抄截……的）動作。
