如果对方打过电话来，可是要找的人不在，该如何办呢？我们看看Sissy 是如何处理的吧。

    ROLF: This’s Rolf from BBC. May I talk to Kelly please?

    SISSY: Would you mind holding for one minute?

    （…）

    SISSY: She's out for lunch. Would you like to leave a message?

    ROLF: No. I really need to talk to her personally.

    SISSY: Would you like to leave a message on her machine, then？

    ROLF: OK, thanks a lot.

    SISSY: Hold on and I'll transfer you.

    (I'm not available to take your call, but please leave your name, number and a brief message. I'll get back to you as soon as possible.)

    1. 根基上在打电话给效力部分时，我们常会碰到如许的情况：

    "Service is busy now, please hold on and your call will be answered in approximate 5 minutes." 现在效力正忙，请不要挂机，我们将在五分钟接听您的电话。

    然后非常钟过往了：

    "Please continue to hold, your call is very important to us."

    请继承等待, 你的来电对我们极度重要。

    这种无尽头的期待令人深恶痛尽，所以人家打电话来时如果万不得已一定要请他稍候，我们要客套一点地说：

    "Would you mind holding for one minute?"

    一定要记得要给对方一个明白的时候，例如one minute 或是 five minutes，万万不要让人家以为你在敷衍他。

    即便你是因为听不懂，直接就搁下句 "Hold on"，然后就跑往求救兵，这对打电话来的人来说也是非常不规矩的。
